Going Xtreme in 2023
Fresno, California (3/1/2023)…. After a relaxing pair of months home back in California, Mariah Ede is ready to get back to the race track. In two weekends her 2023 campaign will kick off in with Keith Kunz Motorsports at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, Illinois.
Last year was a year of growing and learning for Ede as she hopped on the Dirt National Midget trail for the first time. On her journey she was able to pick up one Top 10 at Lake Ozark Speedway in 24 feature starts.
Ede said over the course of the year she learned, “To take it one race at a time. Focus on the race at hand and give it my all.”
Mariah’s first ten races with Keith Kunz Motorsports all take place in the Midwest starting at DuQuoin on March 10th & 11th. From there she will visit Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway (3/23), Port City Raceway (3/24 & 3/25), Farmer City Raceway (3/31 & 4/1) in the heart of Illinois, and at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on April 14th & 15th. All ten races are sanctioned by the Xtreme Outlaw Series or POWRi.
While Mariah hasn’t been in a Midget since her C-Main appearance at the Chili Bowl Nationals, she did get behind the wheel of her family’s 360 Wing Sprint Car in preparation for this weekend’s race at Silver Dollar Speedway. The race has been canceled due to saturated grounds, but Ede took the practice night as an opportunity to get better.
“For my first time turning laps at one of California’s top bullrings, I feel practice went really well. It just felt good to back in a race car again. Our main goal was to shake the car down and try a couple things, but for me it was getting my timing down with the higher speeds in a sprint car. There is such a big difference between the Midget and Sprint Car, but overall the test was a success.”
Ede won’t be back behind the wheel of a Sprint Car for a while as the Midget season kicks into high gear. To watch Mariah’s season opener at the tiny Southern Illinois Center, tune into watch live on DirtVision or watch attend in person at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Illinois.
